Mystery, dexterity, comedy and virtuoso variety skills will be on hand April 8 at the Salute to Magic, presented at the Queens Theatre in New York by the Parent Assembly of the Society of American Magicians. The diverse bill of entertainers includes the headline act, Scott and Puck; veteran magician Denny Haney (who is also Master of Ceremonies); Alexander Boyce, an up-and-coming conjuror gaining recognition in New York; and Will Shaw a talented juggler and all around variety artist. The Assembly will also present its Magician of the Year award to Rene Clement. For a link to purchase tickets and directions to the Queens Theatre, click here.

"These performers have received international acclaim," said Nina Schindler, who is producing the show for the Parent Assembly, "but most of them rarely perform here in New York. The Salute to Magic provides the opportunity to experience the excitement of live magic in an intimate venue that is perfect for variety entertainment."

The Parent Assembly of the Society for American Magicians has presented an annual show since 1909. Over the years it has featured some of the world's most renowned conjurors, including Dunninger, Houdini, Dai Vernon, and Cardini. Now known as the Salute to Magic, the event generates revenue that supports the year-round activities of the Assembly.

Denny Haney, (Master of Ceremonies) toured the world with his stage show from 1972 to 1990 and also has performed extensively at corporate events for Fortune 500 companies. He currently performs regularly at the Magic Castle and at a variety of magic conventions while also running his popular magic shop in Baltimore.

Will Shaw's unique blend of physical comedy, verbal wit and dazzling skill has taken him across the country and around the world. Performing in venues as diverse as the stages of major symphony orchestras and theaters to those of schools, colleges, camps, resorts, business events and even TV and movies, he has created a universally appealing style, irresistible to audiences of all ages. Shaw is the winner of the Bistro Award from Backstage, the theatrical trade paper, as one of New York City's top cabaret performers. Nationally he is recognized from commercials for Pizza Hut, IBM, Carvel, Burger King, Anderson Consulting and Terra Internet. He has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Sesame Street with the number Two (a big loveable number two). Internationally, he has taken his show to Japan, Thailand, Liberia, Jamaica, Panama, England and Canada. He is affiliated with New York's Big Apple Circus, representing them at a variety of special events and has been an instructor for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus Clown College.

Alexander Boyce’s performances have been called “fun,” “classy,” and “astounding.” His performances are in demand at performing arts centers, banquets, colleges, theaters, corporations, home parties and everywhere in between. Alexander has worked his magic for top businesses and colleges such as the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open, Norfolk Marriott Waterside, and Bryn Mawr College (PA). His magic has even been seen on the “Today Show” on NBC.

Scott and Puck (headliners) are comedian magicians who use their artform of laughter and amazement to spark a dialogue about what’s going on in the world today. As an added bonus, they always amaze with their offbeat illusions, out of the box stunts, and smart comedy. They were both finalists on Americas Got Talent, are current contributors to the Huffington Post and were featured on Penn & Teller's Fool Us on the CW network.

Rene Clement has been deeply immersed in the New York City magic community for decades. As a 35-year member of Parent Assembly he has contributed to the organization on many fronts, most recently as a board member and as the group's comptroller. He is an accomplished comedy magican who performs regularly at a variety of New York City venues and has also appeared on a wide range of television programs, including the Today Show.
